Typebox is a full-size 101800 keyboard design that combines vintage hardware influences, modern functionality, and a carefully engineered typing experience.

Born from a fascination with the tools, technology, and design ideas that shaped earlier hardware generations, Typebox explores how those influences can be reinterpreted for a contemporary workspace. Our aim was to create a commanding desktop centerpiece that combines a sculptural form, refined ergonomics, rich acoustics, and intuitive controls for both creative workflows and everyday use.

Developed through extensive prototyping and refinement, Typebox brings together a carefully engineered internal structure, custom acoustic tuning, integrated control elements, and thoughtful details across every surface. More than just a keyboard, it is designed as a complete interface for interaction, creativity, and daily computing.

With customizable configurations, premium materials, and a focus on balancing form and function, Typebox offers a unique platform for those who value both performance and character in their workspace.

This is a pre-order, before proceeding make sure to read the "GB Policy" section of this page.

Note: keycaps on renders and photographs are for demonstration only and are not included.

Note: Since every custom colour requires a newly mixed anodisation bath, we can’t guarantee that the renders and photography colours will match the final product 100%. Each edition was colourmatched prior to the pre-order at least once, still a slight variance may still occur.

Quality Control: Our aim is to ensure flawless coating on visible surfaces of the enclosures. Machining marks and small anodisation blemishes on the inside body are not considered a flaw. Our brass and copper pieces are clear coated to prevent tarnishing over time. Small oxidation spots are still possible, since metals like copper start to tarnish already during the machining process.

LAYOUTS

Before choosing between solderable and solderless hotswap PCB take a note of the possible layouts. Solderable PCB offers wide arrange of different layouts, ISO and Alps support. Hotswap PCB has a fixed layout and is limited to WKL / WK support only.

Typing angle : Base ( 5 degree ), F-row ( 30 degree )

Dimensions : 446mm x 158.5mm x 46.7mm

Front lip : 20.5mm

A Different Approach

As technology continues to evolve and the way we interact with our peripherals changes, I wanted to take a step back and explore a more classic - perhaps unconventional - approach to keyboard layouts.

While I appreciate the efficiency and innovation of modern layouts, there's something enduring about the older ones that continues to resonate with me. They encourage a different way of interacting with the keyboard - one that feels more deliberate, familiar, and personal.

For me, a keyboard should be more than just an efficient tool. It should feel uniquely yours. Designing layouts that reflect that philosophy is something I'm deeply committed to, and it's a direction I intend to carry forward in future projects.

CONFIGURATION

Hotswap provides most standard configurations for ease of use.

Soldered PCBs offer additional flexibility, including support for ISO Enter and Alps, should you prefer.

ABOUT MOLOKO

The Moloko Typebox features werk.technica's signature Moloko crème finish, paired with your choice of either a peach-anodized, ribbed aluminum base or a solid copper base illustrated by Zaum.

This edition celebrates the enduring appeal of beige - a color often associated with 1980s hardware, yet never confined to a single era - bridging retro-futurism with contemporary design. Effortlessly versatile and endlessly timeless, it serves as the perfect neutral, complementing virtually any setup while proving that true classics never go out of style. The contrast with either warm peach or copper reinforces its contemporary character, bringing a fresh perspective to an unmistakably familiar palette.

ABOUT TYPEBOX

Design Philosophy

Typebox was born out of a love for - and as a tribute to - the vintage and retro-futuristic gadgets, technology, and ideas that shaped our upbringing, many of which now lie buried beneath layers of modern design trends. What began as a simple idea gradually evolved into something tangible.

Throughout its journey, Typebox underwent countless design revisions, multiple iterations of individual components, and eventually a complete redesign to better optimize it for production. Every refinement brought it closer to the initial vision of a deep-sounding, battle-station-inspired design that was envisioned from the start and inspired by battlestations like WEY-TEK MK06, IBM Model AT F and Model F 122.

The collaboration between werk.technica and hYmn emerged naturally from a shared appreciation for this design language. The visual identity of Typebox aligned seamlessly with werk.technica's artistic approach, creating an opportunity to expand the concept without compromising its original character. From the earliest stages, we worked closely on the internal elements of the design, ensuring that the functional details, acoustic goals, and artistic vision evolved together as one cohesive piece.

Our goal has always been to create something timeless, carefully balancing form and function. While many designs place their greatest emphasis on the underside - a surface rarely seen in everyday use - Typebox carries its design language across every surface, allowing every angle to express its character.

TILTED F-ROW

One of the key functional features is the ergonomic layout, designed to improve reachability while preserving the classic character of vintage keyboards with their distinctive tilted key rows. The elevated F-row creates a more natural hand position, reducing unnecessary movement and making frequently accessed functions easier to reach during extended use.

Inspired by the thoughtful layouts of classic hardware, this subtle adjustment combines familiarity with improved comfort for modern workflows. Every element of Typebox was carefully considered to enhance usability while maintaining a balanced and cohesive design.

DUAL ENCODERS

Designed with designers and artists in mind, the dual encoder layout provides greater control over creative tools without being limited to volume, brush size, or parameter adjustments. Each side can be customized with functions that suit your workflow, allowing frequently used controls to remain intuitive and within reach.

The dual knob design was created to emphasize a more natural and tactile way of interacting with technology. While it offers precise control for creative applications, it also enhances everyday usability - from adjusting audio levels and media playback to managing shortcuts, timelines, or frequently used system functions. Typebox adapts to your workflow, whether you are creating, working, or simply navigating daily tasks.

Typebox further enhances this experience with visual feedback through integrated LED indicators and a mini OLED screen, providing essential information at a glance.

USB HUB

Typebox goes beyond being just a keyboard by also acting as an extension of your workspace through an integrated rear USB 2.0 hub. Offering a simple plug-and-play experience, it provides convenient access to your files, peripherals, and everyday devices while keeping essential connections within easy reach.

Designed to complement a clean and efficient setup, the integrated hub adds another layer of practicality, allowing Typebox to become a central part of your desktop environment rather than just an input device.

HYBRID LEAFSPRING GASKET TOP MOUNT ARCHITECTURE

  • PORON HORIZONTAL GASKETS
  • - White noise cancel insulation sponge poron
    - Black high return rate poron

HYBRID GASKET ARRAY

Symmetrically placed on each side of the “leafspring“ plate, our three different gasket types are arranged into a gasket array that surrounds the switch plate vertically and horizontally. This allows us to combine a soft yet not too bouncy typing experience with high vibration absorption.

VERTICAL GASKETS

Custom molded soft silicone gaskets helping the plate to self align and minimising the vibration between top and bottom body of the build.
